| My First Three Months with Seattle Executive Fitness:
I started my training with Seattle Executive Fitness and Nick in the middle of February, 2012. My story is just like everyone else’s; I tried to lose weight a million times, joined a bunch of gyms, and cut out carbs, fat, meat, and breathing all in attempts to squeeze into a pair of ugly designer jeans that happened to be in style at the time. What I had learned so far was what not to do, keeping me in the ugly fat girl clothes that were just as hideous as the bedazzled jeans I desperately wanted. Until I moved to Seattle, that is. I moved to Seattle in 2011 from New Orleans, land of the food and booze free for all. It was – amazing. I had a great time getting fat, I just didn’t like all of the in between time of being fat. So I made a decision to make a complete lifestyle change when I moved to Seattle. And I apparently made the right choice, as Karma, or coincidence, put Seattle Executive Fitness and Nick so unbelievably present in my life. After watching “The Biggest Loser” on TV while eating pizza and drinking soda, I told myself, “I could do that”. So from there the gym membership was born. The next several weeks of workouts showed me that I was extremely out of shape, and that Nick knows what he’s doing. Even though I felt that I was going to collapse from the jello-leg, I could feel myself getting better with each day. The support that I get from Nick is truly indescribable. When I feel like I am going to fall on my face because I can’t hold myself up anymore – Nick says, “so, fall on your face”. It is that simple. The amazing thing is, I fight and push to do whatever Nick tells me to. And then I fall on my face. But I get back up, and fight and push to keep going. And just at the moment that I feel like I can’t push any more, Nick says, “trust yourself, you are stronger than you think you are”. I have never had that kind of support or faith put in me like that, and it makes all the difference. So in the short three months that I have been sore, tired, sweaty, and all around crazy happy, I have lost 30 pounds. I know that I get out what I put in, literally, but I could not have started this journey without the help of Nick and Seattle Executive Fitness. |

| I’ve lost weight by changing my diet. I eat smaller portions of healthy foods more often. I have also added cardio, resistance training, and weight training to my routine a few times a week. My trainer, Maddie, has educated me on what I need to do at the gym, and at home, to meet my fitness goals and create new goals. | |

| I have never been into working out, and would usually come up with some excuse to get out of it. I did this for so long that I eventually found myself extremely overweight and unhappy. I would miss out on fun activities because I was afraid that it would be too hard and I would look stupid huffing and puffing my way through it. Since I’ve been training with Shayna I’ve learned that I really can do anything I want, I just have to let my body do the work instead of my mind. Working with a trainer has given me someone to be accountable to and keep me from making excuses. Shayna also ensures that I get the results I want and I don’t have to worry that I’m just running in circles. Now, I can go shopping without feeling bad about myself, I can do whatever my friends are doing without worrying that I won’t be able to keep up, and I know I’m going to look amazing at my wedding this summer. Thanks to Shayna I’m back to feeling confident and living my life without anything standing in my way. | |

| When I started working out at the gym, it had been over two years since I had stepped foot in the gym. I signed up for training with Nick and we began to work on a progression of exercises which included balance, strength and some agility training. We met two times per week for one hour for about 11 months. Nick also sat down with me and looked at my nutrition. Nick signed me up for the Bodybugg Food tracking program and I was easily able to see what elements of nutrition I needed to adjust. It really helped to see that some of the foods that I was consuming were not healthy for me, and that my portion sizes were more than I needed to be consuming. We focused on one area of nutrition at a time, starting out with counting calories and working from there to get balanced nutrition for my activity level. I learned a lot and continue to learn a lot, especially that I needed to look at food in a different way…for the purpose it serves. While training I was able to lose 33 pounds, and 11% body fat; which I never thought was possible. Because I got in good shape, I was inspired to try cycling and began to commute to work via bicycle. I then began to do some endurance bicycling, doing one bike ride that was 190 miles and another that was 111. Had I not trained with Nick, and not lost the weight I would have never starting cycling, which has turned into a fun hobby and activity. I continue work at all aspects of my fitness and nutrition; it’s now just part of my life. |

| Eight months ago I knew I had to make some changes in my life. I wanted to reduce stress, look and feel better, and get in shape. I decided to get serious and signed up with personal trainer Matt Sweeny. At our first session he asked me how many calories I consumed in a day. What?!!!!! I thought. “I have no idea”, was my reply. He signed me up with an online program where I was able to track my daily caloric intake and have helpful meal suggestions. I was shocked at how many calories I actually did consume in a day without even knowing it. This was the start of my transformation. Matt’s program of weight training, core work, cardio and dietary changes made a huge difference in my body and my self confidence. I have been able to lose over 32 lbs, decrease my body fat by 9.7%, and went from wearing a size 16 pant to a size 10! All this occurred in less than 5 months and I am sure that more is to come. Life is good. |

| I met Ms. Smith in the Fall of 2010 with the goal of getting back into a regular workout routine. I expressed to a staff member, Jeremy, my desire to lose some weight and perhaps learn better eating habits. He recommended Ms. Smith. I was pleased to make her acquaintance. What I didn’t realize was how this experience would greatly enrich my outlook on exercising. Furthermore, I was impressed with her ability to work through my reluctance to exercise. She is an incredible motivator and an impeccable asset to the profession of “personal trainer”. She is very professional and strict with her methods of training. Case in point, I was amazed with her ability to demonstrate a workout routine and her attention to detail with regard to proper posture. Her grace, agility and persistence prompted me to become better each time. At times, my reluctance to workout was overcome by her sense of humor and wit. I was successful in my goal to lose weight. In fact, with her training methods, I was able to lose 30 lbs+, and am maintaining my desired weight after not working out with her for several months. Truly a gifted trainer! Awesome. |

| In 2001, I determined it was time to get fit! After many years of inactivity and poor eating habits, my waist line increased from size 32 to 36. After my first assessment at the gym, I learned my weight and Body-fat (nearly 24%) was higher than I wanted or expected, and that was a wake-up call. I had work to do! After a year or so of it doing on my own and getting some, but less-than-desired, results, I decided I needed some guidance from a professional. My first trainer provided me with the basics in stretching and weight training and the pounds came off reducing my body fat significantly. I still was not convinced that food played such a primary role in meeting my goals. I continued to train off and on after that, but I was still not at what I thought could be my ideal. In 2007, I ramped up workouts to four times (three days of training; one day on my own) a week (after feeling like I was not progressing any further); I needed a new set of goals. I lost the weight, but did not have the definition that I wanted. I needed a trainer to push me further. My current trainer showed me that food plays a vital role in achieving my goals. He is referred to as “King Jeremy” relative to food choices. With his assistance, I have reduced my BMI to its lowest level, 16%. I also have maintained my weight for several years and have improved my eating habits substantially. While I still indulge in the occasional treat, I have found a balance between diet and exercise that I can live with and still enjoy all that life has to offer. |
